Adam and Eve Disobey God - Genesis 3:1-24

Sin comes from man's disobedience

This morning our kiddos turned back to the book of Genesis to dive back into the story where Adam and Eve rebel against God. We learned that Adam and Eve willingly turned away from God by taking the fruit for their own, God's word proved true by death entering the garden, and still God's mercy appeared.

Where is Jesus?

When Adam and Eve sinned, God was not surprised. He had already appointed Jesus, the Creator of all thing, to one day defeat sin and death. As it says in Colossians 1:19-20, "For in Jesus all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross."

In the home.

We are on week 3 in the Long Story Short family devotional for this week (starting on page 21). If there is ever a time to start up time in the Word with your kids it is this week! The gospel is so clear - God made things good. Humanity rebelled and sought their own good. God made a promise (Genesis 3:15). Jesus is the fulfillment of that promise. Set a goal and make it happen this week, it is well worth talking gospel with your kids!
