God is the powerful and majestic maker of all things.
This morning our kids began their new journey in the Old Testament starting all the way back to the beginning. We learned that God existed before all things, spoke creation into existence, made man in His image, and everything that God made was good.
Where is Jesus in the story we learned?
In Colossians 1:15-16, we read that Jesus is the firstborn over all creation and that all things were created by Him and for Him. Not only did Jesus create but also "holds all things together" (Col. 1:17). The stars continue to shine, plants continue to grow, and our lives continue because Jesus holds everything together.
In the home
This week we start the new Long Story Short devotionals through the Old Testament! Someone asked me this morning if they should keep the old NT devotional from this past year and my response was, "Absolutely!" After the next year and a half we'll be back in the New Testament. This way our kids are exposed to all the books of the Bible and see all of it pointing to Jesus. If you didn't not grab a new Long Story Short devotional please let me know and we'll make sure you get one. You can message me by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, May's memory verse is Hebrews 11:1-3 (NIV) and will be quoted on Sunday June 4th. If you didn't grab a bookmark this morning at check-in they will be available next week.
To parenting, for Jesus, and for good.
