God judges Sodom and Gomorrah but saves Lot and his family.
Sunday morning our kiddos learned:
- Sin is a serious thing
- We should not delay to obey
- God will judge sin
Where is Jesus?
Read 2 Peter 2:7-9.
Here, Peter uses the story of Lot to encourage us in our stuggle with sin. Lot willingly left Abraham, whom God promised would be a blessing to all peoples, and went to live in a horribly sinful place. Lot seemed much more interested in earthly blessings that come from God. But God still spared him, making sure he got out of Sodom before it was destroyed.
Despite our sinful choices, our running away from the promises of God, and our attraction to sin, we too can be spared from God's judgment. This is possible because of what Jesus did on the cross.
In the home
We are on week 12 in the Long Story Short family devotional (starting on page 78). Day 3 is the section I would pay most attention too. Here are the questions below (page 81):
Why would God bring His judgment on Sodom and destroy it?
Why would God bring judgment on people today?
What is God's rescue plan for us?
This month's memory verse is Psalm 139:1-3. The highlighted portion below will be quoted on August 6th, NEXT SUNDAY!.
