Salvation comes from God in an unexpected way

Yesterday morning our kiddos learned:
    1.    God promises to deliver Egypt
    2.   Pharaoh fears and tries to destroy Israel
    3.   God brings salvation through a baby

Where is Jesus?

How does today's Bible story fit into God's greater plan of redemption?

Read Acts 7:17-22; Mathew 2:13-16

Moses' life foreshadows or is a picture of Jesus.

Moses' life was threatened from the very beginning. So was the life of Jesus. God saved Jesus by having his family flee to Egypt. God saved Moses from the destruction of Pharaoh by having him living in Pharoah's own home! Moses was no ordinary child. He would grow up to become the savior of Israel. Jesus was no ordinary child, either. He would grow up to become the Savior of the world. Both Moses and Jesus were mediators, someone who stands between God and his people.

In the home

We are on week 27 in the Long Story Short family devotional (starting on page 176). I don't know if this is more for the kids or for parents, but day 3 stuck out most to me this week. Especially this question:

"Who takes care of baby Moses in the end?"

What a great picture of Moses' biological mom literally releasing him over to the Lord and trusting to keep her baby safe while heading down a river. God has you and your kiddos under His care, this is where we find our ultimate security.

Pray about it! Thank God for saving Moses as well as His continued protection He provides for us (physical and spiritual).

THIS SUNDAY is Memory Verse Sunday!
