Lesson summary: Our anger against others is also a sin against God

In our bible story we learned:
    1.    The people grumble against Moses and Aaron again
    2.   Moses goes to the tent of meeting and God speaks
    3.   Moses disobeys and strikes the rock

Where is Jesus?

How does today's Bible story fit into God's greater plan of redemption?

Read Hebrews 4:15.

Instead of speaking to the rock to draw forth water, Moses strikes the rock in his anger. Here we see the fallibility of Israel's redeemer. Up until this point, Moses did what God told him to do. But Moses was a fallen mediator, unable to stand sinless in the gap for the people. Jesus is the perfect mediator.

Unlike Moses, the imperfect mediator, Jesus, though he was tempted like us, did not sin. He intercedes for us yet today. His blood covers all our sins, and he continually stands before God the Father testifying to our redemption.

Family Discipleship - "Time" in the Home

We are on week 41 which starts on page 271 in the Long Story Short devotional. This may feel like a repeat of a lesson and it should because the same sin surfaces in Israel. Here we are in the story where God's people complain again towards God and His leaders. This is a great week to talk about our anger. I encourage you to dig deeper and discuss our attitudes (heart condition) that drives our behavior, tracing the fruit in our lives back to its root.

Pray about it! Thank God for knowing what we need even before we ask.
