Sunday with your kids

Lesson summary: Salvation moves beyond Israel as God's plan unfolds.

In our bible story we learned:
    1.    Joshua sends spies in the land
    2.   The spies are discovered but Rahab protects them
    3.  Rahab's faith is evidence of the promise of God going to all nations

Where is Jesus?

How does today's Bible story fit into God's greater plan of redemption?

Read Matthew 1:5-16

Being in the line of David, Rahab was a forbearer of Christ. She was Boaz's mother. Boaz was the father of Obed (with Ruth); Obed, the father of Jesse; Jesse, the father of David. Jesus was called the Son of David. The Matthew genealogy intentionally includes two Gentile women, Rahab and Ruth. This is a foreshadowing of God's intention to reach the nations.

Family Discipleship - "Time" in the Home

We are on week 43 which starts on page 284 in the Long Story Short devotional. This week is rich with activity and truth that hits close to home. Get ready to talk about finding our strength in God, not ourselves; trusting God will protect; God uses all different backgrounds for His glory; and how a Gentile, marginalized woman of the time is the far off grandmother of Jesus.

Pray about it! Thank God for saving Rahab so that Jesus would one day be born.

Authority - A Gospel Principle for Parents

As a parent, every time I exercise authority in the life of my child it must be the beautiful picture of the authority of God.
