God Provides for Elijah in Miraculous Ways (1 Kings 16:29-17:24)
Sunday with your kids
Lesson summary: God is at work in the midst of a sinful generation.
In our bible story we learned:
1. God withholds rain
2. God provides for a faithful widow
3. God raises the widow's son from death
Where is Jesus?
How does today's Bible story fit into God's greater plan of redemption?
“Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty’” (John 6:35).
God, using the prophet, provided for the widow by multiplying her bread and oil. This is a picture of another prophet who would come and multiply bread for the multitudes. His name is Jesus. But besides providing the physical bread, Jesus himself is the bread of life that will never run out.
Family Discipleship - "Time" in the Home
We are on week 62 which starts on page 416 in the Long Story Short devotional. Take a look below of the topics of each day this week to prepare you for your time with your family.
Day 1: God is in control of all things including the weather
Day 2: God cares for the least of these
Day 3: God's plan of salvation is for people from every nation
Day 4: God is the ultimate healer
Day 5: God is compassionate and slow to anger
Pray about it! Thank God his amazing compassion that keeps him from treating us as our sins deserve. We deserve to be punished, but God loves us instead and sent Jesus to die for us. Praise God for the way he showed us his love.
